“You Are The Problem: Series 1”
So I did two sets of four posters awhile ago for my visual theory class. I wanted to utilize the rhetoric of 20th c propaganda posters to create something relevant today (because honestly, when was the last time you saw straight-up prop posters? it’s all advertising these days) that also caused my viewers to feel discomfort.
While I’m not satisfied with the drawings (I honestly think the imagery would be more powerful as a photograph, but that’s not really my skill set so what can you do) the exhibition did achieve its intended effect; people got pretty quiet and awkward as they walked through my portion of the show.
I’d like to do more work in this theme later on. It was an interesting and relevant change of pace.
(Also, tru fax: the original drafts of my designs all read like infographics with pictograms instead of drawings.)
